What to expect on a Sunday morning at Redwood!

I know that a lot of people are nervous about going to a church for the first time.   It can be tough because you have no idea what to expect, and you might be a little worried that things will be wierd and you'll feel uncomfortable.   We get that, so we thought that maybe we'd explain what goes on Sunday mornings to you, so you'll be a little better prepared.

Even though our service starts at 10:30 am people often start showing up around quarter after just to grab a cup of coffee or a muffin before the service starts.   This is a great chance to meet a few people, or at least to get a caffeine fix to keep you awake during the service.  In order to let everyone know that the service is going to start soon, we usually have a countdown timer start to give everyone 5 minutes notice.  This is especially helpful if you've got to make a last minute run to the bathroom.

We usually start the service off with a few songs that are a little more upbeat and fun for the kids to get involved in.  Sometimes we even get the kids up on stage to do some actions, or just to shake their bootie for a bit.  They have a lot of fun with it, and the rest of us enjoy it like proud parents do.  After the first couple of songs, we dismiss the kids to our children's program and then we have a few announcements and break for ten minutes or so to give us all a chance to grab another cup of coffee and to connect a little bit with each other.   In case you haven't noticed, coffee is a pretty big deal to us as a church community.

After the coffee break we usually spend a little bit more time singing a few songs and sometimes we watch a short video that designed to help get our brains chewing on the topic we're going to be talking about that morning.   After our worship time, we usually watch a video message from Doug Doyle our Senior Pastor.   The videos are of Doug preaching in Thunder Bay at our mother church.   We are connected to Redwood Park Church in Thunder Bay and most of our teaching comes from them, although our Campus Pastor, Nathan Barnes, preaches at least once a month live here in Barrie.

So hopefully, this helps you have a better idea of what you're getting into before you actually show up.  We're looking forward to getting to know you.
